The Dimension Data Men's Pro-Am is one of the principal annual golf tournaments on the Southern African Sunshine Tour.
It began on the Gary Player and Lost City golf courses at Sun City, South Africa.
The tournament was founded in 1996 and was co-sanctioned by the European Tour for the first two years, with enhanced prize money and fields as a result. Those first two events were won by former World Number 1 Nick Price and top South African player Mark McNulty.
In 2010, the tournament moved to the Fancourt Golf estate in George in the Western Cape. The tournament is now played on the Montagu, the Outeniqua as well as The Links golf courses.
Together with Standard Bank, we are elevating women in sport at the 2023 Dimension Data Ladies’ Pro-Am. In line with our commitment to creating a more equal playing field, the Dimension Data Ladies’ Pro-Am will be played on the Montagu and Outeniqua golf courses at Fancourt for the first time in 2023, and sees a significant investment in the professional prize fund. From 2024 onwards, the Ladies’ tournament will become a Ladies European Tour co-sanctioned event.
The 2023 Dimension Data Men’s Pro-Am and the 2023 Dimension Data Ladies’ Pro-Am will be hosted at Fancourt.
Professional players compete in their own right for a professional prize fund, the winner being determined by the lowest overall number of strokes over the four-day tournament.
Amateurs are teamed with a professional partner and together they compete for the Dimension Data Men’s Pro-Am trophy and an additional professional prize fund. They compete using the Betterball Medal scoring system whereby the lowest stroke, by either the professional or the amateur, is recorded for each hole. The amateur handicaps are taken into account.
Golfers will play in teams of two, one professional and one amateur, experiencing three of the finest 18-hole golf courses in the country, the Montagu golf course, the Outeniqua golf course and Fancourt’s world famous The Links golf course.
